• Rebuilding civility and respect in City Hall and in the services the city provides to its citizens.
• Prioritizing innovation as we keep our neighborhoods safe. Coleman will be an advocate for strong and vibrant police and fire services. The city needs more council members to stand up for our first responders as they address more complicated and demanding situations.
• Being a watchdog for the peoples’ tax money. The city must spend its budget on high priority, tested services that benefit the citizens most – services in our neighborhoods!
• Focusing on the PEOPLE of Des Moines and their needs. Coleman started and chaired the Homeless Coordinating Council earlier in his career, to better address the needs of our most vulnerable citizens. He will continue to bring leaders together to work with communities who need government on their side—low-income persons, new Americans, those struggling with mental illness, and those who are being left behind in a new economy.
• Investing in neighborhoods, especially our parks, which can and will be the crown jewel of our city. Parks are the place where we celebrate families, culture, diversity, and community. And our neighborhoods need attention and a champion at City Hall. Chris will be it!
